It has been a horrific week for wrestler Narsingh Yadav, who tested positive for doping. After providing his sample for the test conducted by NADA on 22 June, he tested positive for banned steroid methandienone, which hurt his chances of participating in the upcoming Rio Olympics. The 74 kg wrestler pleaded innocent and said that he had been framed.

If other news publishers and sources are to be believed, the man who allegedly spiked wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s food supplements has been identified.

The cook at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sonepat training centre has identified the man who had allegedly tampered with the wrestler’s food. He is supposedly the brother of an international wrestler in the super-heavyweight category.

He allegedly infiltrated Narsingh’s room at SAI and contaminated his food supplements.

Narsingh filed an FIR against the intruder at the Sonepat police station.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan did not elaborate but did confirm that a person had been identified. “We have done whatever we could for Narsingh and we believe he is innocent. He also added, “If they have identified someone, they must lodge an FIR so that a formal investigation can take place.”

An official meeting between Narsingh Yadav and NADA is scheduled for Wednesday. However, there is a slim chance of his making it to the Olympics now.
