With reports emerging that Imran Khan has led his political party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) to victory in the Pakistan general elections, held on Wednesday, July 25, congratulatory wishes are pouring in for the former cricket captain from the cricketing community.
Khan, the captain of the 1992 Cricket World Cup-winning Pakistan team, found support from his former teammates before the election, with some of them urging people to vote in favour of the former all-rounder.
On Thursday, after Khan claimed victory in the election and addressed the nation, both former and current crop of Pakistani cricketers took to Twitter to wish the PM-in-waiting.
Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram, one of the most vocal supporters of Khan, wished his mentor all the luck in his future role.
Several other cricketers too gave their best wishes to Khan to usher in a ‘Nayaa Pakistan’.
The current Pakistani players too sent in their congratulatory messages.
