Keeping his power-hitting form going Andre Russell scored 48 off 13 balls to help Kolkata Knight Riders register their third win of the campaign.
Russell’s knock included seven sixes. He smashed 23 and 29 runs of the 18th and the 19th over respectively to again win it for his side. With this innings, Russell takes his tally of runs to 207 from 4 innings, this season.
Chasing a mammoth score of 206, the Knight Riders started well with Sunil Narine (10 off 8 balls) and Chris Lynn (43 off 3 balls). Robin Uthappa (33) and Nitish Rana (39) then came up with important contributions to take the KKR innings forward. With 53 needed off the final three overs, Andre Russell absolutely decimated the Bangalore bowlers as the bowl travelled all round the park.
And by this time the fans should be habituated by Dre-Russ’ out-of-the-world hitting abilities, but Twitter still seemed to awestruck by the Jamaican’s power-hitting.
Earlier, the RCB batting came good as they scored 205 in the first innings. Virat Kohli scored 84 and AB De Villiers scored 63. Marcus Stoinis then scored a quickfire 13-ball 28 to take the score over 200.
However, the misery for RCB continued as their bowling and fielding yet again failed to defend a score even beyond 200. As many as five catches were dropped by RCB fielders, which included Mohammed Siraj dropping two of them.
Despite having the players who can win it for them, they are repeatedly failing to get past the winning line. The over dependence on Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers is visible in every game and its not working to their favour.
And as expected, Twitter reacted to RCB’s continuing misery as they slumped to their fifth consecutive loss, in as many matches, this season.
