Ajinkya Rahane made his way to a scintillating 100 off 58 deliveries against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, 22 April, 2019.
It is his second hundred in the tournament’s history, with the first coming against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012, where he scored 103.
On Monday, Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and decided to field.
Steve Smith and Ben Stokes fell at the other end, but Rahane kept attacking and eventually reached the three-figure mark in 58 deliveries.
Earlier, at the start of his innings, Rahane was dropped by Ishant Sharma.
Rajasthan eventually finished with 191/6 at the end of 20 overs, with Rahane remaining unbeaten on 105 off 63 deliveries.
Twitter was full of praise for the former Rajasthan Royals captain. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
Nonetheless, it was a magnificent century. But could it have come a bit earlier in the tournament?
Rahane has had a pretty average IPL season thus far. Before the century on Monday he had scored 213 runs in 9 matches at an average of 23. Nonetheless, Both Rahane and the team management would hope that he continues from where he left and lead the Royal’s fightback.
