Mumbai Indians finished at 149/8 in the IPL 2019 final against Chennai Super Kings in Hyderebad. But again, umpiring mistake grabbed headlines in the final over of the Mumbai innings which was bowled by Dwayne Bravo.

On-field umpires were again guilty of denying Mumbai Indians a wide which stirred a bit of controversy.

The incident transpired during the second ball off the final over when Kieron Pollard tried to shuffle towards the off-side seeing which Bravo bowled the delivery even wider which rightly wasn’t given a wide. But the next ball was way outside and was deemed to be a wide but it too was not declared a wide.

On seeing that the on-field umpires did not rule in his favor, Pollard threw the bat in the air in disgust as everyone saw the funny side of it.

Pollard had the revenge next ball as he took guard way outside and gave Bravo a full view of his stumps. Just when he was in his delivery stride and about to bowl, Pollard pulled up midway. The umpires had a chat with the big West Indian who seemed to hardly care about what they had to say to him.

Pollard went on to play all six deliveries in the over as Mumbai scored 9 runs off the final overs with Pollard hitting Bravo for two boundaries in the final two balls of the over.

Update: Following Mumbai’s win in the 2019 IPL final, Pollard was fined 25% of his match fee for showing dissent to the umpires during the match.

An official BCCI media advisory stated that ‘Mr Pollard admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanction.’

For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
