An all-round effort guided New Zealand to a thumping 80-run victory over India in the first contest of the three-match T20 international at the Westpac stadium in Wellington on Wednesday.

Chasing a mammoth 220-run target for victory, the Indian batsmen failed to show fight against a disciplined Kiwi bowling attack as the entire team was bowled out for 139 runs in 19.2 overs.

Wednesday’s loss was India’s heaviest defeat in terms of runs in T20I. India’s previous biggest defeat came against Australia in 2010 in Bridgetown. India lost the match by 49 runs.

Apart from this, India is yet to win a T20I against New Zealand in New Zealand. After losing both T20Is in 2009, India win-loss ratio now stands at 0-3.

As India started the T20I series with a loss, Twitter made sure they won’t let Team India forget that this was their biggest defeat.
