Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday announced their 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. The biggest highlight of the selection was Mohammad Amir being absent from the list.

Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said, “Amir and hard-hitting batsman Mohammad Asif will travel with the squad next week to England, where Pakistan will play one Twenty20 international and a five-match ODI series ahead of the World Cup.”

This implies that doors may still be open for the 27-year old to make a last moment entry in the squad.

The 27-year old, who had taken three wickets in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against India, has been out of touch recently. In 14 One Day games since June 2017, he has taken only five wickets for Pakistan.

The left arm pacer was the topic of discussion on Twitter. There were mixed reactions over PCB’s decision to leave Amir for England 2019.

Apart from Amir, the other big call was regarding senior batsman, Mohammad Hafeez. The 38-year old has been picked but his inclusion will be subject to fitness.

Hafeez had picked up a hand injury earlier this year, and was replaced by Salman Butt in the Lahore Qalandar's squad in this year's Pakistan Super League.
