The prestigious Olympic Games that are scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday evening, has had a rather bleak start to their ceremony.

Officials misplaced the keys to the east gate of Rio’s legendary Maracana Stadium, venue of the opening and closing ceremony of the games, sending laughter waves through social media.

While the country has been receiving a lot of criticism for their ill-preparations, a video shared by BBC reporter Julia Carneiro showing firemen breaking the locks of the gate with huge bolt cutters has just taken the situation to the next level.

Reporting from Rio de Janeiro, Carneiro also posted about spectators having to move from one gate of the venue to another clearly suggesting a lack of organisation.

The world’s largest sporting event has reached Brazil at a challenging time while the nation is going through a bad economic recession. Besides the risk of Zika virus, there have been violent protests by residents and major security issues causing the organisers to come under major scrutiny.
