Google Doodle Dedicates 9th Day of Winter Olympics to Ice Hockey

The 2018 Winter Olympics are underway South Korea, and Google Doodle is celebrating the 9th day with ice hockey.

The 2018 Winter Olympics are underway in South Korea, and Google Doodle celebrated the ninth day of the games on Saturday, 17 February. The ninth doodle was based celebrating the sport of ice hockey, the games of which began on Saturday in Pyeongchang.

Google Doodle showed an animated clip of two cranes competing in an ice hockey match. The disk falls into a hole in the ice sheet and a fish gleefully brings it back up on its nose.

Meanwhile, Shiva Keshavan of India finished at the 30th spot in the Singles Run 3 of the Men's Luge event at the Winter Olympics here on Sunday. Shiva, who had finished 36th in the earlier round, thus brought the curtains down on a remarkable career which saw him qualify for six consecutive Winter Olympics.He had earlier announced that this will be his last Olympic appearance.
The Indian registered a time of 48.9 seconds on Sunday, which was 1.396 seconds slower than Chris Mazder of the US who finished first in Run 3. In the overall standings, David Gleirscher of Austria won the gold while Mazder got the silver. Johannes Ludwig of Germany finished with the bronze medal.

How Indians are Faring at the Games

Indian skier Jagdish Singh finished a disappointing 103rd out of 119 athletes, taking part in the 15 km free cross-country skiing event of the 2018 Winter Olympics on Friday, 16 February.

The 26-year-old Indian Army personnel crossed the finish line with a time of 43 minutes and 0.3 seconds, nine minutes and 16.4 seconds after Dario Cologna from Switzerland, who clinched his third straight Olympic gold with a time of 33:43.9.
Simen Krueger from Norway bagged silver while Denis Spitsov from Russia grabbed bronze.

Google is expected to showcase 17 doodles as part of the Google Snow Games.
