In a shocking turn of events, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that the IPL 2021 is being indefinitely postponed in the wake of positive cases cropping up in more than one team. Things escalated rather quickly in a matter of two days since news of the virus breaching the bubble broke out.

The postponement of IPL has left netizens with mixed emotions. There have been all kinds of reactions on social media, with a majority of fans being unhappy by the development while a few others preaching the motto of safety over sporting showbiz. The latter group welcomed the move, reasoning that as much as we are thrilled by watching the IPL, a suspension is in the better interest of all involved.

The BCCI has been bashed left, right and centre for staging the IPL even as the pandemic is bulldozing India into submission. However, many were of the opinion that better sense has finally prevailed and applauded BCCI for pulling the plug on IPL. Better late than never.
