Australia’s women cricketer Megan Schutt got married to her long-time partner Jess Holyoake on March 31, 2019. The couple decided to go ahead with the marriage after the Australian government passed a bill in 2018 making same-sex marriages legal.
Schutt took to Twitter to announce the news of her wedding. In her tweet she called it the ‘best day of my life’.
Earlier, South African captain Dane van Niekerk had married her teammate Marizanne Kapp in 2018 and New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu also got married in 2017.
Schutt is currently ranked as the no.1 bowler in ICC Women’s T20I rankings. She is the first Australian bowler to take a hat-trick in WT20Is.She also holds the fourth spot in in the ODI players ranking for bowlers. The 26-year-old cricketer has played 51 ODIs and 47 T20Is for Australia accounting for 75 and 57 wickets respectively. Schutt had won the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2013.
Schutt is also currently working with Cricket Australia on improving their management for cricket for women.
