India beat Bangladesh by 3 wickets in a last-ball thriller to win their seventh Asia Cup title. After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma put Bangladesh to bat, a move which almost backfired after Bangladeshi openers Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan put up hundred runs on the board in the first fifteen over.

After a great start to their innings, Bangladesh lost the plot in the middle overs when they lost their three batsmen – Kayes, Mushfiqur and Mithun – in the span of 11 runs. But opener Liton Das remained unaffected as the run kept flowing from his bat. He rought up his maiden century in 88 balls in the 29th over.

Soon after he got to his hundred, Kuldeep Yadav was brought back into the attack and the Chinaman came up with his trademark googly which Liton failed to read. As Kuldeep tossed the ball wide, the batsman expected it to come back in and Liton failed to put bat to ball. MS Dhoni was quick to latch on the ball and was quicker to whip the bails off in 0.16 seconds.

The decision went up to the TV umpire, Rod Tucker in this case. Television replays showed Liton Das had his toe on the back line, but nothing behind it. After lot of dilly-dallying, Liton was given out by the smallest of margins.

In usual case, the benefit of doubt is given to the batsman but in this scenario the TV favoured the bowling side which meant that he was convinced that Liton’s foot was on the line and had no part behind it.

This decision didn’t go down well with Bangladeshi fans, who accused the umpires of favouring India again. The fans took to Twitter to show their disappointment.
