More than 30 hours after a 21-year old British woman made allegations of sexual harassment and forced abortion against Sardar Singh, the Indian hockey captain sat down in front of the media to clarify his stand.

Here are his answers to some of the allegations.

1. Confirms They Were “Good Friends”

We met through Facebook before the London Olympics. We met after that as well and we were good friends. But the allegations she has levelled on me and the kind of words she has used on me are not appropriate. They do not suit our culture. Even I can go into details but I won’t, I still respect her.

2. “Did Not Rape Her”

Question: Is it true that you gave her hopes of marriage and raped her?

No such thing. We were never engaged. There was no ring ceremony. I have saying this from the very beginning.

3. “Did Not Announce Engagement on Twitter”

The 21-year-old woman had claimed that Sardar had himself announced their engagement on Twitter. The hockey player though claims that it was in fact she who had accessed his account and shared the news.

She had Tweeted the news herself that we were getting married. I was playing Spain at that time. She had taken the password for my email and social media accounts from my friends and Tweeted the news herself. She retweeted the news herself. I don’t have any access to my accounts.

4. “There was No Abortion”

The 21-year-old complainant had also claimed that she had been impregnated by Sardar and he had forced her to abort the baby. The hockey player denied having ever heard of this before.

This is not true. I do not think this is true. I am hearing of this only now, from you and from her. This is all her own thinking.

5. Contemplating Legal Action?

In a spot himself with all these allegations levelled on him by the woman, Sardara also said he is awaiting the police report after which he would decide his next move.

I am waiting for the report. According to the report I will decide whatever legal actions are to be taken.
