Young Indian player Sahil Tavora struck twice, including a last-gasped stunner, as FC Goa beat last edition champions Chennaiyin FC 5-4 in Indian Super League's highest scoring match.
Coming as substitute at the start of the second half, Tavora had scored his first goal of the match in the 68th minute. Goa's other goals came from Rafael Coelho (6th and 76th) and Joffre Gonzalez (21st). Jerry Lalrinzuala (4th) Dudu Omagbemi (28th) and John Arne Riise (88th) scored for Chennaiyin while Goa player Gregory Arnolin conceded an own goal.
Goa, coached by legendary Brazilian footballer Zico, ended their campaign on a high but they still finished at the bottom of the league table with 14 points from 14 matches (4 wins, 2 draws, 8 losses).
Not only did Tiger Woods return to golf Thursday, he returned to being Tiger. Just not for long.
Hardly looking like a player who had not competed in 466 days, Woods ran off three straight birdies with a variety of shots and was tied for the lead in the Hero World Challenge as he approached the turn.
Three shots in the bushes, one shot in the water and a few fits of anger sent him toward the bottom of the pack. A pair of double bogeys over the final three holes ruined an otherwise impressive return, and Woods shot 40 on the back nine at Albany Golf Club and had to settle for a 1-over 73.
He was in 17th place in the 18-man field. Only Justin Rose had a higher score.
Batting legend Rahul Dravid said that a settled middle order can ensure Indian Test team's success abroad.
"I am very impressed with the batting talent we have and they are growing, developing as a team, they still are figuring their way out. I hope by the time India tours abroad, we will have a settled batting line up, a sort of confident and successful middle order in place," Dravid said at an event here.
"If you have a set middle order and the guys know and are secured in their position, I think it will give us the best chances to succeed. The potential is there to succeed in all conditions," said the former captain.
Kerala batsman Sanju Samson, who has played one Twenty20 match for India, is facing disciplinary action from the state cricket association for allegedly violating the code of conduct during the team's recent Ranji Trophy against Goa.
Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him after he allegedly went out of the venue of the match without informing the team management. He also allegedly broke a bat in the dressing room after a match. Samson returned to the venue in the evening after the team management made several efforts to contact him, KCA sources said.
