Haryana Steelers are one of the four new franchises to mark their debut on the Pro Kabaddi mat in season 5. With Haryana being a kabaddi hotspot in India, expectations will be high from this team.
They have constructed the team with a fine blend of youth and experience. After picking left-corner defender Surender Nada as a priority pick, they smartly bought his partner-in-crime, the right-corner defender, Mohit Chhillar, at a bargain price of Rs 46.5 lakh. Additionally, they roped in experienced raiders like Wazir Singh and Sonu Narwal. They will have to depend on young players on both cover positions.
Haryana picked Surender Nada as their priority pick and snapped up Mohit Chhillar in the auction. This means they arguably have the best corner defence this season. Both have a combined 308 tackle points in the PKL (most by any corner combination in the PKL).
Wazir Singh returns after missing a major chunk of PKL 3 and PKL 4. He will certainly take some time to get used to the PKL environment.
Surender Nada and Mohit Chhillar failed to make the semi-finals with Bengaluru Bulls. They will now seek to make the play-offs.
Wazir Singh is returning from an injury after missing PKL 4 and playing only 1 match in PKL 3. Surjeet Singh also suffered an injury in PKL 4 and managed just 33 raid points after scoring 68 in PKL 3.
Steelers need both their lead raiders to be fit in-order to make a big impression in their debut season.
