M C Mary Kom assured India of another medal at the 21st Commonwealth Games after she beat Scotland’s Megan Gordon in the quarterfinals of the women’s 48 kg boxing event on Sunday. With this win, Mary Kom qualifies for the semi-finals.

The five-time world champion dominated her 18-year-old opponent throughout the one-sided quarter-final to claim a unanimous 5-0 verdict at the Oxenford Boxing studios. Mary Kom got a full-house from all the five judges -- 30 -24, 30-24, 30-24, 30-25 and 30-25.

Her entry into the last four stage has confirmed a bronze medal for Mary Kom.

Mary Kom will face Sri Lanka's Anusha Dilrukshi in the semifinal on April 11.

The Indian veteran is the favourite to claim the gold medal in her weight category, which would be her third in the last five months. She had won gold medals at the Asian Championships, the India Open before settling for a silver at the Strandja Memorial boxing tournament in Bulgaria.

Although she has world titles and an Olympic bronze in her trophy cabinet, Mary made her Commonwealth Games debut in this edition of the event. Women's boxing featured in the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 2014 but Mary missed out on that edition after she was edged out by Pinky Rani.
