After Mirabai Chanu and Gururaja bagged medals in their respective categories on the opening day for India, India’s Sanjita Chanu will be vying for a medal in the 53 kg category in weightlifting.
Weightlifting will be the only medal event where the Indians will be competing on Day 2.
The women’s hockey team will also be in action against Malaysia on Day 2 from 10 am. Rani Rampal and co lost their first match against Wales 2-3 on Day 1.
Day 2 of the Games will also see Indian squash players in action with Joshna Chinappa opening their campaigns.
Participating in the 53 kg category this time, Sanjita had won gold in Glasgow in 2014 in the 48 kg category. The Manipuri is one of the favourites to win the event but defending champion in the category Papua New Guinea's Loa Dika Toua will look to give Sanjita a tough fight.

In sub-division 1 (and there are four sub-divisions of 10 gymnasts each), South Africa’s Claudia Cummins has the best score in vault with 13.400.

Kiran Tak finishes seventh in the Women's S9 100m Backstroke heats. Tak recorded a timing of 1 minute 46 seconds and qualified for the final of the event.

There’s another medal prospect in weightlifting for India! Deepak Lather has finished with a lift of 136 kg in the snatch round, which has placed him in the joint-second rank, ahead of the clean and jerk round.
India’s Deepak Lather is leading the 69 kg category at the moment. He lifted 155 kg in his first attempt of the clean and jerk round.
Lather is leading with a total lift of 291 kg. Kiribati’s Ruben Katoatau is second with a lift of 275 kg.
Gareth Evans goes past Sri Lanka’s Indika Dissanayake Mudiyanselage to take the lead in the 69 kg category. Evans has recorded a total lift of 299 kg.
Deepak Lather finished with a total lift of 295 kg. He is currently placed third in the table.

Samoa’s Vaipava Ioane had a chance to be one of the medalists. Being the last one to lift in the clean and and jerk round, he had the luxury of calculating the exact amount of lift required to win a gold medal. While trying to beat Evans’ total of 299 kg, Ioane failed to lift 175 kg in two attempts, thereby helping Mudiyanselage and Lather to be among the medalists.
The Indian women’s team has bounced back from the loss against Wales with a 4-1 victory over Malaysia. Gurjit Kaur (2), Lalremsiami and Rani found the back of the net for India.

Saraswati Rout failed to record a successful lift in each of her three attempts in the snatch round and therefore she has been eliminated from the 58 kg category. Rout, who tried to lift 78 kg in the snatch round, will not compete in the Clean and Jerk round.
India’s sole gold medallist from Friday, Sanjita Chanu said she was disappointed with her performance despite finishing on top of the podium.
The 24-year-old Manipuri lifted a total of 192kg (84kg+108), even breaking the CWG record in the snatch round, but she later said that she was a little sad about not replicating the feat in clean and jerk.
Sanjita in fact had been battling a back problem ever since the World Championships last year, where she injured herself just five days before the competition.
