The freak injury to Wriddhiman Saha opened the door for Naman Ojha to finally end a “long wait” and possibly play in test whites for India.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman also added said he would be “under pressure” to perform if he makes the playing XI in the decisive third cricket Test against Sri Lanka starting Friday.

There is a little bit of pressure yes, because I have got this chance after a very long time. But I am not thinking about it. I have waited very long and I am just looking to enjoy my game and enjoy this moment.

“It was an absolutely amazing feeling to be called up for this Test. It felt really good. I am preparing well, and playing against Australia-A last month was good. So I am in a good shape and fingers crossed, I will perform well,” he added.

Having spent considerable amount of time under Rahul Dravid tutelage in Rajasthan Royals as well as India A set-up, talented Karun Nair is thankful to Karnataka legend who has given him “right confidence” as he is enjoying his maiden call-up to the national squad.

He (Dravid) has given me a lot of confidence in my batting. And he just keeps pushing me in the right way and has always been positive. He hasn’t changed too much of my technique but he has just been giving the right confidence that a young player needs.

“He doesn’t talk much, doesn’t get into details much and lets you play the way you have been playing all your life. He gives you the freedom to go there and express yourself,” Nair was effusive in his praise for the former India captain.
