The Lodha Panel in its latest report to the Supreme Court has said that the BCCI office-bearers should be dismissed and former home secretary GK Pillai should be appointed as the observer of the cricket board. The panel wants Pillai to supervise the administration of the BCCI.
In the report, the panel has stated that Pillai should carry out the task of appointing auditors for awarding BCCI contracts such as the media rights for the upcoming editions of the IPL.
The Lodha Panel has been trying to clean up the Indian cricket board since being appointed by the Supreme Court after a betting scandal in the IPL.
The panel has suggested recommendations to the BCCI for corruption-free administration. The cricket body has agreed to some of the recommendations but has not accepted the big changes such as age and tenure caps for top officials and a one-state-one-vote policy.
The Supreme Court disallowed BCCI in October from giving funds to state associations until they accept the Lodha recommendations. The BCCI has been given time till 3 December to implement the reforms.
