Javelin thrower Rohit Yadav failed a dope test conducted by National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and has been provisionally suspended, according to ANI. Yadav has been tested positive for stanozolol (‘A’ Sample).
After Yadav set a meet with a personal-best throw of 76.11m at the 14th national youth Championship in Hyderabad in April, the 16-year-old attended the dope test.
The Uttar Pradesh lad has been given time until next week to get his ‘B’ Sample tested.
The javelin thrower had bagged a silver medal at the second Asian Youth Athletics Championships in Bangkok, prior to hearing the news.
To prove his innocence, he will have to appear before NADA’s disciplinary panel.
In April, two Indian athletes – Sushila Panwar (weightlifter) and Subrata Paul (goal-keeper) – were also provisionally suspended after their ‘A’ Sample were tested positive.
