Sunrisers Hyderabad’s second-highest scorer this season, Jonny Bairstow, wasn't allowed to end his 2019 IPL campaign on a high.
Playing his final match of the season, against CSK in Chennai, Bairstow nicked one off Harbhajan Singh to keeper MS Dhoni and the CSK skipper didn't let the opportunity pass.
It was the third delivery of the second over of the match, after Dhoni won the toss and elected to chase once again. Bairstow walked back to the hut on a duck.
After Tuesday night’s game, Bairstow will take a flight back home to England to join the team for a camp ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan.
Bairstow and David Warner’s opening stand has been the most successful partnership this IPL 2019 with the pair putting together 962 runs in the 10 matches before the fixture in Chennai. That is 71% of SRH’s total runs this season.
The English cricketer amassed a massive 445 this season that included one century and two half centuries. His highest score was the 114 he scored against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore on 31 March.
After Warner, he is also IPL 2019’s second-highest scorer this season.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings' skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their return fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
Harbhajan Singh replaced Shardul Thakur in the Chennai playing eleven while Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan came in for Shahbaz Nadeem and Kane Williamson in the Hyderabad team.
