Chennai Super Kings are now placed at the top of the points table with 10 points after they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets at Chepauk on Tuesday, 9 April.

Deepak Chahar was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his bowling figures in 4 overs – 20 Runs and 3 wickets.

CSK won the toss, and opted to field first on a yet another sluggish track. KKR got off to a bad start as they lost both their openers inside the first two overs. Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa followed soon after and the Knights were reeling at 24/4 at 4.4 overs.

Dinesh Karthik and Shubhman Gill stitched a small partnership before taking the walk back to the dug out. Andre Russel scored yet another 50 of 44 balls to take his team total to below par 108/9.

Chennai Super Kings chased the target with 2.4 overs to spare, with Faf Du Plessis having scored 43 off 45 deliveries.

Team Standings

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore finds themselves at the bottom of the table having lost all their six encounters so far. Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad currently occupy the second, third and fourth places respectively.

Mumbai and Delhi have won three encounters each and will be looking for consistency heading into the second phase of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals have lost 4 of their 5 matches and will look to make strong amends going forward.

At the end of the group stage, the top four teams will qualify for the play-offs.
