The defending champions’ captain MS Dhoni on Wednesday, 3 April, got to 4000 runs for the Chennai Super Kings. He has scored 449 runs for CSK in the Champions League T20 and 3,561 runs in the Indian Premier League, thus sitting just behind Suresh Raina who recently registered 5,000 runs for the franchise earlier this season.
The defending champions made a terrific start to their campaign this season by winning the first three matches on the trot. MS Dhoni even scored an unbeaten 75 in their third game of the season against Rajasthan Royals.
Chennai’s Super Kings’s offical Twitter handle congratulated ‘Thala’ on his achievement as well.
In the match against Mumbai however, chasing a score of 171 to win, the CSK skipper was dismissed for just 12 by Hardik Pandya.
Earlier, CSK won the toss and decided to field first. A 45 run stand between Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard saw Mumbai reach 170/5 at the end of their 20 overs after being 125/5 in 18 overs.
