Kings XI Punjab’s Chris Gayle became the first-ever batsman to smashed a whopping 300 sixes in the history of Indian Premier League in Saturday, 30 March’s match against Mumbai Indians.
Chasing 177 for victory against Kings XI Punjab, Gayle hit Mumbai Indian’s Mitchel McClaneghan for consecutive sixes in the third over. He also hit Hardik Pandya for back-to-back maximums in the seventh over before falling to Krunal for 40 (off 24 balls).
The landmark is also special as there is no other cricketer who has even crossed the 200 mark.
Following Gayle in the list of most sixes by a batsman in the league are, AB de Villiers with 192 sixes, CSK’s Mahendra Singh Dhoni (187) and Suresh Raina (186) and Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma (185).
