India dropped two places to the 162nd position in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
India ended their disappointing 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign by losing their last match 1-2 to Turkmenistan at Kochi. They lost seven out of eight qualifying matches and this did not reflect very well on the rankings.
Iran (42) jumped two places and is still the is the highest ranked AFC nation, followed by Australia who is ranked 50th after jumping 17 places since the last rankings. Guam who dropped 8 places, shares the 167th position with India.
Meanwhile, Argentina took over the pole position from Belgium while World Champions Germany slipped to the 5th position. Copa America champions jumped two places to sit 3rd on the list.
The Indian Women’s football team too dropped a position in FIFA Women’s Football Rankings and are currently ranked 58th
