The French Embassy screened the semi-final between Germany and France with supporters of both countries watching the match together.

The Quint was there to bring live coverage and updates of the match which ended with France winning against Germany for the first time at a major tournament since 1958 with a 2-0 victory.

Here is a breakdown of all that happened at the historic semi-final, in case you missed it.

Even though it was well past midnight when the match started, fans were enthusiastically cheering as though they were at the Marseilles ground themselves.

Germany had greater ball possession in the first half and aimed more shots at the goal, however, the team could not match up to France’s fierce game play.

During halftime, The Quint caught up with the fans again, some of whom were still hopeful of Germany’s redemption in the second half.

As France scored the second goal closer to the end of the game, it seemed that this would be the year that they finally defeat the reigning champions at a major tournament after nearly 60 years.

Even as the pressure mounted on France, they managed to breeze through the semi-finals and will now play Portugal in the final on Sunday.
