Bengaluru FC Welcomes Pregnant Fan to the Owner’s Box

Meghana Nair, a 33-week pregnant Bengaluru FC fan, had requested to allow her bring hot water during the match.

Meghana Nair was the lucky fan that just wanted a bottle of hot water, but ended up getting a VIP experience.

Carrying water bottles into stadiums is one of the difficult things for fans in the country. But when you are a pregnant lady, who needs to have her medicines with hot water, while cheering for your favourite team, you hardly have much option.

So, Meghana Nair, a 33-week pregnant Bengaluru FC fan, asked Bengaluru FC on Twitter whether she can bring hot water in a re-usable bottle during the match.

Quick to respond, Bengaluru FC’s not only promised to solve her problem, the club offered her seats in Owner’s box for the next match. The side even complemented Meghana for introducing her unborn child to the Bengaluru FC family.

While talking to Sportstar, Meghana revealed that there are a fair amount of problems with how match-days in the stadium go.

“There are no lifts in the stadium. You often have to climb four floors to get to your seat. I was able to manage because it was much easier at the time. We usually seat ourselves here in the West Block and it can get quite chaotic.”

“In our last game (against Chennaiyin FC), the stands were crowded and the supply of food and water was not enough,” Meghana added.

Meghana went on to talk about other issues like the fact that there aren’t any restrooms nearby, so one has to go down to the ground floor to reach the restrooms.

Her main issue came with the stadium ban of single-use plastics. While it is a green and noble initiative on Bengaluru FC’s part, it was causing some inconvenience to Meghana who needs to bring her own water bottle to the stadium to keep on-time with her medication.

Bengaluru FC media manager Kunaal Majgaonkar told Sportstar that it took them less than a minute to get permission from the management to upgrade her to the owners' box.

"It's these small things that keep bridging the gap between the club and the people who support it," the media manager said.
