India had a less than impressive fielding performance in their second T20I against West Indies, which they eventually lost by eight wickets.

While there were fielding woes, apart from a stunner from Virat Kohli near the boundary to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer, the skipper was visibly irritated and didn’t make any effort to hide his disgust.

However, Kohli did not appreciate the Thiruvananthapuram fans chanting for MS Dhoni after under-fire wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant dropped catch.

While Pant actually did put in a good show both with the gloves and the bat, his 5th over drop of Evin Lewis didn’t go down well with the crowd.

The crowd started chanting for MS Dhoni, the former skipper who hasn’t played international cricket since India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The crowd had also been dismayed at Pant’s selection over hometown favorite Sanju Samson, but Pant managed answer his critics with the bat in the second T20 international. His unbeaten 33 was crucial after India kept on losing wickets at the end of their innings.

Kohli had previously discouraged fans from chanting for Dhoni as it was disrespectful towards the young Pant, who has been eyed as the long-term successor for the 39-year-old Dhoni.
