Team India beat West Indies by 6 wickets in the first T20I at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad on Friday, 6 December.
During his innings on Friday, the skipper was at his aggressive best both with the bat as well as with his emotions on the field.
Things started happening in the 13th over of the match. Kohli almost collided with Kesrick Williams in the middle of the pitch, while taking a single as the bowler went for the ball. Kohli was quick to complain to the umpires despite Williams apologising.
From there the banter between the duo carried on throughout the match but it was only in the 16th over – with India still needing 54 from 5 overs, when Kohli decided to take it to the next level.
Kohli smashed Williams for a four off the first ball. He followed it with a wristy flick for a six on the leg side. It was at that moment that Kohli imitated the signature notebook celebration of Kesrick Williams as the bowler looked on in amusement.
When asked during the post-match presentation that when and how had he picked Williams signature celebratory move. Kohli said,“It happened to me in Jamaica when he got me out. So I thought I'll tick a few in the notebook as well, but all good. There were a few words, but smiles at the end. That's what you want to see.”
“Good competitive cricket but in the end shake hands and give a hi-fi. That's what cricket is all about. Play it hard but have respect for opponents,” said added.
