Indian pacer Umesh Yadav smashed debutant George Linde for five sixes, posting his highest Test score of 31 (off 10 balls) on the second day of the third Test against South Africa.
Coming in to bat at nine, the 31-year-old bettered his 30, scored against Australia at Brisbane in December 2014.
His strike rate of 310.00 in Ranchi on Sunday, 20 October, is the highest by a batsman, facing 10 balls or more in a Test innings. He obliterated the 281.81 by New Zealand's Stephen Fleming during his innings of 31 not out off 11 balls against South Africa at Auckland in 2004.
Umesh was finally removed by Linde, who was hit big by the pacer, as he skied the ball for 'keeper Klaasen to complete the catch.
Soon after, India declared their first innings at 497/9 before the pacers picked up two wickets to leave South Africa reeling at 9 for 2 at the end of second day’s play.
Shami got rid of Dean Elgar (0), while Yadav dismissed Quinton de Kock (4) to rattle the touring side, who trail the hosts by 488 runs.
