One of the most devasting and decorated openers in world cricket, Rohit Gurunath Sharma, celebrates his 32 birthday today.
The Vice-Captain of the Indian Limited overs side is the only batsmen in world cricket to have scored three double hundreds. From 2013, Rohit averages a staggering 58 in ODI’s with 20 centuries and 29 half centuries to his name.
He is currently ranked number two in the ICC ODI rankings, only behind Virat Kohli. He has also led Mumbai Indians to three IPL titles.
Many former as well as present cricketers took to twitter to wish the opener a very happy birthday. From Virender Sehwag to Sachin Tendulkar to Harbhajan Singh everyone had something good to say about the Hitman.
Sharma has had a very average IPL season thus far, having scored just one half century.
With the World Cup around the corner, Rohit Sharma will be a vital cog in the Indian side. The star opener averages an incredible 57.25 with two centuries and five half centuries to his name in the ODI’s played in England.
The team and the fans would hope that Rohit Sharma fires at the World Cup.
After all he is “The Hitman”
