Former India cricketer Abhimanyu Mithun has been summoned Central Crime Branch for questioning in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) spot-fixing scandal, according to a Times of India report.
Till now seven people have been arrested in connection to the spot-fixing row after Belagavi Panthers' owner Ali Asfaq Thara was arrested on September 25
However, Mithun will be the first international player who will be interrogated in the matter.
“We’ve have prepared some questions for Mithun about his game during the previous KPL season,” another senior officer was quoted in the TOI report.
Mithun, who has played four Tests and five ODIs for India, is currently part of the Karnataka squad in Surat which is taking part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In KPL, Mithun first played for Malnad Gladiators. He then represented Bijapur Bills before switching to Shivamogga Lions to lead the side last season.
Started in 2008, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) runs the KPL every year on the lines of the popular Indian Premier League (IPL).
Last edition of the competition was held from August 16-31.
"We will definitely not conduct the KPL tournament matches till the investigation is completed and the final report from the police comes out," he told IANS.
