Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opener Shikhar Dhawan was the first player to be sold in this year’s auction. After an intense bidding war between Punjab and Mumbai took his rate to from a base Rs 2 crore to Rs 5.20 crore, Sunrisers used their Right to Match ticket to get their opener back. Dhawan joined retainers, David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Here’s what the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad looks like so far after the end of the auctions.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who started with a base price of Rs 1 crore, was sold at Rs 2 crore after a fair amount of bidding.

After the former Bangladesh skipper, the Sunrisers bought their fourth player in the form of New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. The Hyderabad team got the New Zealand player for an amount of Rs 3 crore.

Hyderabad shelled out Rs 11 crore to sign Manish Pandey, making him one of the most expensive players to be sold in the auction yet, after his former team Kolkata Knight Rider refused to use their RTM for him.

Carlos Brathwaite, the West Indian T20 skipper was brought for an amount of Rs 2 crore, while Yusuf Pathan was bought for Rs 1.9 crore.

After lunch, the Sunrisers got into an intense bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders for Wriddhiman Saha, only to emerge victorious after paying Rs 5 crore for the young wicketkeeper.

Using their Right to Match again, the Hyderabad team retained Afghan bowler Rashid Khan for an amount of Rs 9 crore, after Kings XI Punjab made a series of bids for the spinner.

The Hyderabad team also capitalised on the un-capped player category, buying six un-capped players during the first auction day.

Day 2

As the second day of bidding began, Sunrisers Hyderabad took quite some time to lap up their first player, the Afghan spinner Mohammed Nabi - for whom, they ended up paying a crore rupees.

Their second pick of the day came with Sandeep Sharma for whom they ended their bidding at Rs. 3 crore after a very keen Kolkata Knight Riders failed to get their hands on the pacer.

Twenty-nine-year-old former Royal Challengers batsman Sachin Baby was picked by the Hyderabad club at his base price of Rs 20 lakh as no other team showed interest in the player. Chris Jordan was also bought by the Sunrisers for Rs 1 crore, a move that has enhanced their bowling lineup.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s twenty first player came in the form of young Australian Batsman Billy Stanlake, for whom they paid Rs 50 lakh. Following Stanlake, the Hyderabad team landed a bargain signing youngster Tanmay Agarwal for Rs 20 lakh.

Former Rajasthan Royals player Shreevats Goswami was also picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad, shooting his price up to a crore rupees from a base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Bipul Sharma stayed with Hyderabad at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. They completed their squad of 25 with picking Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehdi Hasan, again paying Rs 20 lakh for the player.
