Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets for seven runs as India bowled out West Indies for 100 on Sunday in North Sound to clinch a record 318-run win and help Virat Kohli equal a captaincy mark.
West Indies fell far short of the highly improbable winning target of 419 but managed a mini-recovery in its second innings after slumping to 15/5. Pacer Bumrah bowled eight overs, including four maidens, to do most of the damage for India, hitting the stumps to claim four of his wickets.
The 318-run victory in the series-opener was India’s biggest-ever away win by runs in test cricket.
Here’s a look at some of the important numbers and records broken in India’s massive 318-run victory against West Indies in the first Test:
India's triumph by 318 runs is their biggest by runs' margin in overseas Tests, obliterating the 304-run victory vs Sri Lanka at Galle in 2017.
India's aforesaid triumph is their fourth biggest overall by runs margin in Tests - the biggest being by 337 runs vs South Africa at Delhi in December 2015.

West Indies' defeat by 318 runs is their biggest by runs' margin in Tests at home, eclipsing the 312-run loss to Australia at Port of Spain in March 1999.
West Indies' second innings' total of 100 is their lowest vs India in Tests, surpassing the 103 at Kingston in 2006.

Virat Kohli, with 27th win as captain in 47 Tests, has emulated Mahendra Singh Dhoni's tally of 27 wins in 60 Tests.
With 12 wins in overseas Tests, Kohli has outstripped Sourav Ganguly's tally of 11 wins. Kohli now holds an Indian record in overseas Tests as captain.

Jasprit Bumrah's first five-wicket haul vs West Indies is his fourth in Tests – the best being 6 for 33 vs Australia at Melbourne in December 2018.
Bumrah is averaging 14.17 in a winning cause in Tests - his tally being 35 wickets in five Tests, including four five-wicket hauls.
Bumrah's outstanding bowling figures of five for seven runs are the most economical five-wicket haul by an Indian bowler in Tests - the joint third overall - the most economical being 5 for 2 runs by Australia's Ernie Toshack vs India at Brisbane in 1947-48.
