Thanks to Rohit Sharma’s spectacular century, India defeated England by seven wickets in the third and final T20 at Bristol on Sunday, 8 July, and sealed the series 2-1.
Here’s a look at the records, milestones and trivia from the high-scoring match:
India handed a T20I debut to Deepak Chahar; the 25-year old Rajasthan pacer, who was the highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19, became the 76th player to represent India in T20Is.
MS Dhoni became the first player to pouch 5 catches in an innings in T20 Internationals. With his first catch – that resulted in the dismissal of Jason Roy, he also became the first wicket-keeper to pouch 50 catches in T20Is.
Hardik Pandya returned figures of 4-38 which became his best bowling figures in all T20 cricket.
England scored 73 runs in the first six overs of their innings; it was their second-highest powerplay score in T20Is. England’s best batting performance in the powerplay overs was 89-3 against South Africa (Mumbai, 2016 World T20).
Jason Roy and Jos Buttler were involved in a partnership of 94 runs, which would be England’s best opening partnership in T20Is against India.
Rohit Sharma became the second Indian batsman and the fifth player overall to complete 2,000 runs in T20 Internationals.

India’s chase of 199 at Bristol would be the highest target any team had successfully chased down against England.
With the win in the 3-match T20I series against England, the Indian team extended their streak of consecutive series wins in T20 Internationals to 6. Only Pakistan have won more series on the bounce; they are currently on a 9-series winning streak.

Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 100, which powered India’s run-chase, was his third century in T20 Internationals; he joined New Zealand’s Colin Munro as the only two players to score three hundreds in T20Is.
The match-winning century in the series-decider in Bristol would be Rohit Sharma’s fifth hundred in Twenty20 cricket – the most by an Indian batsman in the format.
