Bangladesh caused a huge upset on Sunday, 3 November. The visitors notched up their maiden T20I win against India in the first encounter of the three-match series at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.

The hosts set up a target of 148 which the Bangladesh team chased with ease, courtesy their most experienced player Mushfiqur Rahim. Rohit Sharma was leading a young Indian side which was missing the services senior players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.

India would be looking to level the series, when the two sides again meet on Thursday, 7 November for the second ODI at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Till date Team India had some mixed luck at the Rajkot venue as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned.

  • Just two matches have been played at this venue. India (202/4) had defeated Australia (201/7) by six wickets with two balls remaining on 10 October 2013. New Zealand (196/2) had won convincingly by 40 runs against India (156/7) on 4 November 2017.
  • Colin Munro, during the course of his match-winning innings of 109 off 58 balls at this venue on 4 November 2017, had become the first New Zealand batsman to post a century against India. His magnificient innings was embellished with seven fours and seven sixes.
  • Mohammed Siraj, in the above match, had bowling figures of 4-0-53-1 – the most runs conceded by an Indian bowler on debut on Indian soil in T20Is. The runs by him were the second most conceded by an Indian bowler on debut behind Joginder Sharma's 4-0-57-0 vs England at Durban on 19 September 2007.

  • Australia's Aaron Finch had scored 89 off 52 balls in a losing cause against India at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on 10 October 2013.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/35), Vinay Kumar (3/26) and Yuvraj Singh (77 not out) were instrumental in India's six-wicket win vs Australia on 10 October 2013.
  • Yuvraj's match-winning knock - his career-best - in the above match earned him his seventh and the last Man of the Match award in his T20I career.
  • New Zealand's Trent Boult had produced his career-best figures (4/34) in T20Is vs India at this venue on 4 November 2017 - the best at this venue.
