Indian pacer Deepak Chahar and batter Suryakumar Yadav have both been ruled out of the T20I series against Sri Lanka that gets underway on 24 February.

The BCCI confirmed the news in a press release on Wednesday morning.

'Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday,' the BCCI release said.

'They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries,' the board's release further added.

No replacements have been announced for the pair.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Chahar has not travelled with the team to Lucknow where India will play the first of the three T20Is against Sri Lanka on February 24. The next two T20Is will be played in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.

He suffered the injury during his run-up in the 3rd T20I vs West Indies. After dismissing their openers in the run chase, the bowling all-rounder walked off the field holding his hamstring without completing his second over.

The 31-year-old Suryakumar did attend the practice session ahead of the first T20I in Lucknow but has now been ruled out of the three-match limited-overs series. The second and third T20Is will be played in picturesque Dharamsala.
