After defeating Cameroon’s Berthe Emillene Etane Ngolle in her first bout, she lost to Canada’s Michelle Fazzari and Nigeria’s Aminat Adeniyi. Therefore in the Nordic system, Sakshi had to win against Tayla Ford to clinch the bronze medal.

The top two seeds PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal will meet in the final of the singles competition. The former sets up the clash after beating Canada’s Michelle Li 21-18, 21-8 in the semis.

Javelin Throw: Neeraj Chopra in Contention For a Medal

After coming fourth in the qualification round with a throw of 80.42 m, Neeraj will be looking to improve his performance when he takes the field in the final of javelin throw.

Squash: Joshna Chinappa/Dipika Pallikal Move Into Final

Indian duo of Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal cruised to the final of the women's squash doubles with a straight-games win over England’s Laura Massaro and Sarah-Jane Perry.

The Indian pair won 11-10, 11-5. They will next face either Australia’s Rachael Grinham/Donna Urguhart or New Zealand’s Joelle King/Amanda Landers-Murphy in the gold-medal match.

Boxing: Silver For Manish Kaushik!

In the men’s 60 kg final, India’s Manish Kaushik narrowly missed the gold after he went down to Australia’s Harry Garside in split verdict of 2-3.

Manish won the favour of the judges from Wales and Canada but their counterparts from Poland, Algeria and Ireland scored in Garside’s favour.

Badminton: Saina Through to Singles Final

World No. 10 Saina Nehwal beats Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland 21-14, 18-21, 21-17 to advance into the women's singles final. Saina will face either compatriot PV Sindhu or Canada's Michelle Li.

World No 1 Kidambi Srikanth eases past England's Rajiv Ouseph 21-10, 21-17 to reach the men's singles final.

Boxing: Gold For Gaurav Solanki!

Gaurav Solanki wins India’s second gold in boxing. He defeats Englishman Brendan Irvine 4-1. In an evenly fought match, Gaurav managed to score higher by a slender margin.

Previously Gaurav had won silver in the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2015.

Shooting: Gold For Sanjeev Rajput!

Sanjeev Rajput shoots a Commonwealth Games record of 454.5 to take home India's 19th gold medal at Gold Coast. Chain Singh comes fifth with a score of 419.1.

Rajput was in the third place with 150.5 points after kneeling stage in the final, went onto to second position with a whopping 156.3 in kneeling. With 98.7 from two shots in the standing-elimination stage, he took the lead and stayed in front to clinch his first CWG gold.

He had shot a Games record score of 1180 in the qualification.

His team-mate Chain Singh, second in qualification, was the fourth to be eliminated and finished in fifth place.

Sanjeev Rajput broke Gagan Narang’s record of 1166 set in Delhi 2010 in the qualification round. The 29-year-old Chain Singh also equalled Narang’s record.

The two Indians had the two best scores in qualification.

Wrestling: Somveer Wins Round 2

India’s Somveer beat Jayden Lawrence of Australia in the second round of men’s freestyle 86 kg repechage. Somveer won 7-0 by the virtue of victory by fall.

A victory by fall is awarded to any wrestler who holds his or her opponent’s shoulders to the mat.

Wrestling: Vinesh Wins Two Consecutive Bouts

After winning her first bout, India’s Vinesh Phogat wins her next two bouts in women’s freestyle 50 kg Nordic system.

In her second bout she defeated Miesinnei Genesis of Nigeria 6-5. In the next next bout she got the better off Australia’s Rupinder Kaur. Vinesh won 10-0 by the virtue of technical superiority.

Table Tennis: Manika Batra Enters Final

India’s Manika Batra fights it out against defending champion and World No 4 Tianwei Peng to reach the final after a mammoth seven-game match. Manika won 12-10, 5-11, 11-8, 5-11, 5-11, 11-9, 13-11.

Boxing: Gold For Mary Kom!

Magnificent Mary Kom wins India’s first boxing gold at Gold Coast.

In the final of the 48 kg weight category, Mary Kom defeats Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara This is Mary’s first gold in Commonwealth Games.

The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, five-time world champion, 2014 Asian Games gold medallist and five-time Asian champion dominated the title clash. All five judges awarded the 35-year-old the bout with identical 30-27 scores, indicating that they believed the Indian held the upper hand throughout the bout.

Hockey (Women's): India Go Down Against England

Indian women’s team end their CWG campaign on disappointing note. They lose 0-6 to Olympic champion England in the bronze medal match. After trailing 0-2 till the third quarter, India lost their way in the last ten minutes of fourth quarter where England went on a rampage and scored four goals. Rani Rampal and Co have to come back without a medal!

Boxing: Mary Kom in Action in Final

London Olympic Bronze medallist MC Mary Kom will fight for gold in women’s 45 kg - 48 kg final against Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara.

Wrestling; Sakshi Loses Second Successive Bout

Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik stunned by Aminat Adeniyi of Nigeria. Sakshi lost 3-6. Despite her loss, she still gets one classification point.

Vinesh Phogat wins her women’ s freestyle 50 kg opener against Miesinnei Genesis of Nigeria. Vinesh won 6-5.

Badminton: Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty/Satwik Rankireddy in Finals

India’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy stay on course to secure gold as they brush aside Sri Lanka's Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Goonathilleka in the semi-finals. The young duo won 21-18, 21-10 to book their place in the final.

Shooting: Sanjeev Rajput & Chain Singh in Final

India’s Sanjeev Rajput & Chain Singh moved into the final of the men’s 50 m rifle 3 positions.

Sanjeev Rajput shot three series of 98 and a 97 in the kneeling stage to take the lead. He backed it up with three successive 100s and a 99 in the prone stage and add 390 in the standing stage with three series of 98 each. In the process he broke Gagan Narang’s record of 1166 set in Delhi 2010.

The 29-year-old Chain Singh equalled Gagan Narang’s record set in Delhi 2010 with his scores of 389 in kneeling, 398 in prone and 379 in standing. He shot a good series of scores in prone, shooting two 100s and two 99s.

The Indians had the two best scores in qualification round and will look to extend their dominance into the medal rounds. The final will be held at 8.15 a.m. IST.

Wrestling: Sakshi Goes Down in Her Second Bout

In the women’s 62 kg weight class event, Sakshi Malik lost her second bout against Canada’s Michelle Fazzari 8-11.

Sakshi took an early lead of 4-0 but Michelle made a strong back and won three points in the dying seconds.

Since only five wrestlers are part of the women’s 62 kg weight category, the competition is being held in the Nordic format, where all wrestlers compete against each other with points being awarded for the way wins are achieved.

Sakshi will next play Aminat Adeniyi of Nigeria.

Table Tennis: S Gnanasekaran /Manika Batra Lose in Semis

India's second mixed doubles pair of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra go down fighting in the semi-final to English Liam Pitchford and Tin-Tin Ho.

The Indian duo lost the first two games but came back strongly to win the third and fourth games to take the match into a decider. The fifth game was a thriller till the English duo clinched it 15-13.

Sathiyan and Manika lost 8-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-8, 13-15.

Sathiyan and Manika will take on compatriots Sharath Kamal and Mouma Das in the bronze-medal match.

With just two days of action left at the Games, some of India’s big medal contenders will be seen in competition on Saturday.

The day starts in the shooting arena with Chain Singh and Sanjeev Rajput starting the 50m Rifle 3 Positions qualifiers. Also starting at 4.30 am is the Double Trap qualification that will feature Kynan Chenai and Manavjit Sandhu.

After the women’s doubles silver in table tennis, Saturday sees more Indians fighting it out in the semis. Achanta Sharath/Mouma Das take on Singapore’s Ning Gao/Mengyu starting 5 am and then Sathiyan Gnanasekaran/Manika Batra face Liam Pitchford/Tin-Tin Ho of England around 5.35 am.

Badminton semi-finals are also on Saturday with Satwik Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty facing Sachin Dias/Buwaneka Goonethilleka of Sri Lanka. Kidambi Srikanth is playing Rajiv Ouseph of England, HS Prannoy has a tough one against Malaysia’ Lee Chong Wei, Saina Nehwal plays Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour and PV Sindhu takes on Canada’s Li Michelle.

In squash, Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Saurav Ghoshal will go for gold in the final match while Joshna Chinappa will join Dipika in women’s doubles semi-final against England.

In athletics, Neeraj Chopra will also look for gold in javelin throw as the Indian team competes for medal events in men’s relay race, women’s relay race, Men's Triple Jump and men's 1500 m race.
