India’s bilateral series against Pakistan may still be in a limbo but their face-off in March 2016 has been confirmed.
The ICC released the schedule for the tournament today in Mumbai and hosts India have been slotted in Group 2 with Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and a yet undecided qualifying team.
India will play Pakistan on the 19th of March in Dharamsala.
With eight host cities, the tournament will start on the 11th of March and culminate in the final on the 3rd of April with both men’s and women’s matches being played simultaneously.
Not like any added incentive was needed but the ICC has increased the prize purse this time round as well. The men’s winners will get $5.6million, a 86 per cent increase from the 2014 edition and the women’s winner will get $400,000 - a 122 percent increase.
New Delhi and Mumbai will host a semi-final each on the 30th and 31 of March respectively. Eden Gardens in Kolkata is the host venue of the final of the 3rd of April.
