Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu spoke to The Quint about owning a Premier Badminton League team – Pune 7 Aces – and why India has a strong connection with the history of badminton at the PBL auction in New Delhi on Monday, 8 October.
We should officially call badminton the family sport of India. Because all of us have played it at least once, whether it’s during our family picnics, school or college. Now, we play badminton for recreation and rejuvenation. So, this sport should be the closest to our hearts as Indians. And I don’t know how many people know that badminton originated in India and therefore we really need to own the sport because it started here.

The actor expressed that she was nervous before the start of the auction, but was happy with the players which Pune scalped in the event.
I was nervous and anxious. It was the first time for me. It’s good to be nervous. You are personally attached to the things at stake. But I am happy now. I can breathe a huge sigh of relief with the kind of players I have in our team.
