The Indian women’s 4x400m relay team has bagged a gold medal and by a distance!
The team comprising Hima Das, Saritaben Gayakwad, Vismaya Koroth and Poovamma Machettira finished first by more than two seconds to continue their domination in the event. This is India’s fifth straight Asain Games gold in the 4x400m women’s relay.
The Indian women's quartet ran 3 minute and 28.72 seconds to win. Bahrain (3:30.61) and Vietnam (3:33.23) took the silver and bronze respectively.
India has been winning the gold in this event since 2002 Asian Games.
India's Jinson Johnson bags a gold medal in the men's 1500m event, while 800m champion Manjit Singh finishes fourth.
Johnson clocked 3:44.72 minutes to claim the top honours ahead of Iran's Amir Moradi, who turned in a timing of 3:45.62 minutes, his season's best effort. Johnson had earlier won a silver in the 800m event.
Manjit took the fourth position with a timing of 3:46.57 minutes.
Second medal in athletics on Day 12!
Chitra Unnikrishnan clinches her first-ever Asian Games medal after winning a bronze in the 1500m event. The 23-year-old, who has a South Asian Games gold and an Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games gold under her belt, clocks a timing of 4:12.56 minutes.
Bahrain’s Kalkidan Befkadu wins gold with a timing of 4:07.88 and compatriot Tigist Belay settles for a silver after finishing the race in 4:09.12 minutes.
In-between the nerve-wracking penalty shout-out in the Indian men’s hockey semi-final, defending champion Seema Punia has clinched a bronze medal in discus throw.
35-year-old Seema cleared a best distance of 62.26m, her best in six years, but that was just enough for a bronze medal.
Her best throw came in her third attempt, as she bettered her gold-winning effort at the 2014 Incheon Games, where she had managed 61.03m.
Tengku Ahmad gives Malaysia the lead again.
But SV Sunil misses his shot and India are out the running for the gold medal. The defending champions had a 2-1 lead in the match but conceded in the last 5 minutes and many round of penalties later, have lost their semi-final.

Soon after India take a 1-0 lead, Malaysia have managed to score an equaliser in the 38th minute. On the counter, the Malaysians make a charge and it’s 3 of them against 2 Indian defenders. The first shot strikes goalkeeper Sreejesh’s right leg but trouble was not diverted. Fiazal Saari is barely two meters away from Sreejesh and he slots the deflection right into the goal.

Harmanpreet Singh’s perfect drag flick in the 33rd minute puts India in the lead.
Three minutes into the third quarter and India manage to convert their sixth penalty corner of the match. Akashdeep starts the move and Harmanpreet Singh controls the ball calmly and places it to the left of the Malaysian keeper’s elbow. A smooth move and the ball finds the back of the net.

This is quite a change from India’s five matches in the group stages, where they scored a record 76 goals.

Top-ranked team in the tournament, India have been in red-hot form, having scored a record-breaking 76 goals in the group stage of the games.
Barring the 1-4 loss to Pakistan, Malaysia too had a good run in the pool stages with comfortable wins over Kazakhstan (16-2), Thailand (10-0), Bangladesh (7-0) and Oman (7-0).
Manjeet Singh is the first cyclist to be knocked out of the men's Omnium Elimination Race. He scored a total of 26 points to finish last in the event.
After finishing 16th in both the Scratch and Tempo Races, the 24-year-old had entered the Elimination Race with 20 points, placed 17th in the overall standings.
Another Indian out of contention in Kurash. Danish Sharma loses 0-10 to Misri Husein of Kuwait in the quarter-finals of the men’s 90kg event.

Sharath Kamal has entered the pre-quarters of the men’s singles Table Tennis event, with an easy win over Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Qureshi in the Round of 32 match.
It took the Indian paddler just 18 minutes and four straight sets – 11-4, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5 – to defeat his 52-year-old opponent and move into the next round.

The India women lose 1-2 to Hong Kong, China in their final Pool B match of the Squash team event, with stars Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa going down in their respective games. Rising star Sunayna Kuruvilla won India’s only point, while another young star in the team, Tanvi Khanna did not play.
The four-member team have already assured themselves of a medal after securing a semi-final berth.
Finishing second after Hong Kong in Pool B, India will play Pool A toppers Malaysia in the semis tomorrow.
Jyoti Tokas and Amisha Tokas’ campaigns in the women’s 78kg event has come to an end. Both the Indians have lost their respective pre-quarters matches.
15-year-old Jyoti lost 0-10 to Turkmenistan’s Mariya Lohova, while 17-year-old Amisha suffered a 0-5 defeat against Nguyen Thi Lan of Vietnam.
The Indian men’s Volleyball team finish 12th after losing 2-3 to Myanmar in the men’s classification match.

First Kurash bout featuring an Indian on Day 12, and 15-year-old Jyoti Tokas doesn’t disappoint. She registers a 1-0 win over Thailand’s Meesri Prawanwit to enter the pre-quarters of the women's 78kg event.
ICYMI: India has bagged two medals in Kurash, a form of wrestling indigenous to central Asia, with Pincky Balhara and Malaprabha Yallappa Jadhav winning silver and bronze respectively in the women's 52kg category.
The Indian athletics contingent has exceed expectations at the ongoing Asian Games. 14 medals, including 5 golds and 9 silvers, have been won in various track and field events. Mouma Das crashes out of the women’s singles Table Tennis event after a 6-11, 5-11, 6-11, 6-11 loss to 10th seed Chen Szu-yu of Taiwan.
The Indian paddler seeded 17th was no match to her opponent, losing the Round of 32 match in just 25 minutes.
Later today, four-time CWG medallist Manika Batra will be playing her Round of 32 match against Nanthana Komwong at 6:45pm IST.
Disappointing results for India on Day 12 of the Asian Games so far. But a few exciting matches coming up, including the Indian men’s hockey team’s semi-final match against Malaysia.
The defending champions have had a dominating run in the tournament so far. Not only have they won all five of their pool matches, but scored a record total of 76 goals in them.
A win in this game will send PR Sreejesh-led India into the gold medal match, and also help them move a step closer to getting a direct ticket to the Tokyo Olympics.

He had finished 16th in both the Scratch and Tempo Races, to score a total of 20 points. Singh will now be going into the Elimination Race.
In other cycling news, Deborah and Aleena Reji fail to qualify for the women's Sprint quarter-finals.
Indian sailer Gaurav Tomar and Sunil Singh Salam finish sixth in the men’s Canoe Double (C2) 1,000m final with a time of 3:56.477. Among the nine teams competing, Uzbekistan won bronze after clocking a time of 3:44.061.
That’s the end of the road for Harshdeep Singh Brar and Garima Choudhary. Both the Indians have lost their respective Round of 16 matches.

Garima’s opponent Matniyazova Gulnoza from Uzbekistan is handed an Ippo, which is the highest score in Judo.
Over 30 seconds slower than the qualification round winner, Chaoba Devi finishes last in the qualification round of the women’s 3,000m Individual Pursuit event. The Indian cyclist clocks 4:05.298 while Lee Jumi finishes firth with a time of 3:33.048, setting the qualification round Games Record.
Fourth Canoe/Kayak event of the day, and India is still nowhere in contention for a medal.
The Indian pair of Naocha Singh and Ching Ching Sing Arambam finish last in the men’s Kayak Double (K2) 1,000m race after clocking a time of 3:48.627.
Still no medal for India in the sport at this Asian Games.
Cyclists Deborah and Aleena Reji finish 12th and 16th respectively, in the qualification round of the women’s sprint. Both move to the 1/8 round.
Reji’s last-place finish means she will next compete against Lee Was Sze, who finished first in the qualification round with a Games record.
Deborah will be up against Lee Hoi Yan Jessica, who finished fifth in the qualifiers.
Harshdeep Singh Brar beats Sri Lanka’s Rajitha Pushpa Kumara in the men’s 81kg Round of 32. The Indian gets an ippon, which is the highest score in Judo, to enter the Round of 16.
Inaocha Devi and Anjali Bashishth finish 8th in Final A of the women’s Canoe Double (C2) 500m after clocking a time of 2:18.924.
In the men’s Kayak Four (K4) 500m, the four-member Indian team finish last in Final A featuring a total of nine teams. Albert Raj Selvaraj, Ching Singh Arambam, Naocha Singh and Prohit Baroi clock 1:40.809.
Another disappointing finish for India in the women’s Kayak Single (K1) 500m. Soniya Devi Phairembam finishes 8th and last in Final A.
No medals for India in Canoe/Kayak sprint so far at this Asian Games.
Another Walk event, and another Indian has disqualified.
After two men and one woman were disqualified from the 20km Walk yesterday, Sandeep Kumar too been has been disqualified from the 50km Walk halfway through the race.
He received three red cards for the losing contact with the ground.
Day 12 for India at the Asian Games starts pretty early with Sandeep Kumar kicking things off in the 50km race walk event at the crack of dawn. Here’s who else you need to mark time out for:
On Day 11 of the Asian Games, Vikas Krishan (75kg) overcame a bleeding left eye to assure himself of a third successive medal at the Asian Games, while Amit Panghal (49kg) produced a power-packed performance in his quarter-final bout to guarantee a maiden podium finish on Wednesday.
However, it was curtains for world silver medallist Sarjubala Devi (51kg) after she lost her quarter-final bout 0-5 to China’s Chang Yuan, a Youth Olympic gold medallist and also a former youth worth champion.
On Day 12 of the competition, the Indian men’s hockey team will take on Malaysia in the semi-final at 4:00 pm IST. Manika Batra will be up against Thailand’s Nanthana Komwong in the Round of 32 at 6:45 pm IST.
