Vidya Balan recently hosted a special screening of Mission Mangal (which released on 15 August) for her family. She plays a senior scientist at ISRO in the film that recounts the journey of India’s successful Mars mission in 2013. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen.
Directed by Jagan Shakti, who has also written it along with R. Balki, Nidhi Singh Dharma and Saketh Kondiparthi, the tone of Mission Mangal’s script is decidedly light and frothy. Jargon has been kept to the minimum, writes The Quint’s Stutee Ghosh.
