Ajay Devgn’s father, veteran action director Veeru Devgan passed away in Mumbai on 27 May at the age of 85. A number of celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Bhatt, Sajid Khan and Harry Baweja, arrived at Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s residence in Juhu to offer condolences.

Veeru Devgan had been keeping ill health and was admitted at Surya Hospital in Mumbai. He had choreographed fight sequences of many iconic films, including Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Hindustan Ki Kasam, Mr Natwarlal, Himmatwala, Kranti, Shahenshah, Tridev, and Phool Aur Kaante.

In an interview with Times of India, Ajay Devgn had called his father his “Singham” saying, “His growth from nowhere to become India’s topmost action director is remarkable. I have seen him getting so much respect that some of the biggest actors would touch his feet, wanting to work with him.”
