Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif hosted a special screening of their latest release Bharat specifically for survivors and families who witnessed the Partition of India in 1947. Bharat tracks Salman’s character through 5 decades of Indian history with the Partition playing a pivotal role in the narrative. The screening was a fitting gesture from the film’s stars who also joined in a meet and greet session with the families.
Salman Khan shared a photo from the event on his Twitter, where he is seen courteously bending down to listen to an older lady. He wrote alongside the pic, “Special screening of #Bharat for the real families who experienced the events of 1947 and the partition. Honoured to meet all of them! Salute to the real #Bharat families.”
Take a look.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat is a Hindi adaptation of award-winning Korean film Ode to My Father. The film spans about 50 years and traces the history of India through Salman Khan's character. The actor dons various avatars through the film, including that of a stuntman, miner and naval officer. Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani play his love interests. The film also stars Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover.
Since its release on 5 June, Bharat has earned Rs 167.60 crores. The film raked in Rs 42.30 crore on day 1, making the film both Salman’s biggest Eid opener as well as his highest opener ever. Bharat is also Salman Khan’s 14th film to have crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and makes him the actor to have the highest number of films in the Rs 100 crore club.
