The flood situation in Assam is now reportedly the worst in three decades. The Army was called for rescue operations over the weekend as 10 more people were killed and 15 lakh affected across 2 districts of the northeastern state. Over 100 people have lost their lives to flood-related incidents in the state this year.

Over 1.83 lakh people are said to be based in shelter camps.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who toured various flood-affected areas in Dibrugarh district, an official release said.

The Army's Red Horns Division of the Gajraj Corps has dispatched multiple teams after receiving calls for help from various district administrations, a defence spokesperson said.

Eighty-five percent of Kaziranga National Park’s area is reportedly submerged leading to concerns over the well-being of inhabitants. 148 out of 188 anti-poaching camps are under water. Situation is similar in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Lawkhua wildlife sanctuary as well.
