Rohith Vemula, a Dalit student committed suicide on Sunday, sparking protests at the University of Hyderabad.

Contrary to his suicide note, where he asked for there to be no violence after his death, banners were carried and slogans were shouted with Rohith’s body placed outside the campus.

Students sat with Rohith’s body and protests overnight. The police forcibly moved his body from the University campus to Osmania government hospital and arrested eight students arrested.
