On 21 October, polling began for Maharashtra as well as Haryana Assembly elections. Polling began at 7 am in Maharashtra. As expected, Mumbai’s film fraternity stepped out with full enthusiasm to exercise its right to vote.
Filmmakers Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan and Kunal Kohli were some of the first celebrities to step out and cast their votes in the city. Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi were also spotted. Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson Prasoon Joshi also took to Twitter to share a photo of his inked finger. Later in the day, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman, Anushka Sharma, Kareena and Arjun Kapoor were also seen at polling centres.

Lyricist Gulzar also spotted voting in Mumbai.
“I take voting super seriously! Today is the Assembly Elections 2019 and I cast my vote in Bandra, Mumbai ! Let’s do this,” wrote Sameera Reddy on Instagram.
Preity Zinta also took to Twitter to share a special message urging Mumbaikars to get out and vote.
CBFC Chairperson Prasoon Joshi also tweeted a photo of himself. He wrote, “Whilst many in the world struggle for the right to vote, we value our democracy and exercise our franchise. Done my citizen duty.Let’s show up and vote.”
Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza stepped out to vote in Latur.
“A family that votes together smiles together,” wrote Kunal Kemmu after sharing a photo of his family post voting.
In Maharashtra, a total of 3,237 candidates are in the fray for the 288-member Assembly. Counting and declaration of results will take place on 24 October.
