There Seems to Be No Trouble in Vijay Mallya’s Twitter-Paradise

140 characters seems more than enough to let people know that Mallya’s is A-OK.

India is trying everything within its power to bring the once-upon-a-time King of Good Times, Vijay Mallya back to the country, to recover the Rs 9,000 crore that his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines owes to many banks in the country.

His diplomatic passport has been revoked, the Indian government is in contact with the UK government to bring him back to India BUT all this seems to have had little to no impact on him if his online activity is anything to go by.

Mr Mallya has been chilling per se in London since 2 March when he not-so-sneakily left the country after a probe had been launched into his money laundering crime.

Since he landed in London, there has been a wave of tweets and retweets from him; to the order of at least 10-15 a day. Mallya’s Twitter-verse consists of mostly retweets of RCB tweets, Kingfisher Airlines and Formula One. Another person he retweets religiously is biotech mogul Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. Once in a while, he even makes a comment or two about current events or to ‘shut down’ the media statements about him.

Here’s how Mallya manages to keep his image intact with the click of a button and occasionally, 140 characters (or less).

Cricket Fever

While we know he used to own Royal Challengers Bangalore, he continues to make it clear that he is pretty darn proud of his team. Here he is, patting himself on the back for ‘spotting’ Virat Kohli.

Debt? Psh, look at my stunning RCB line-up.

Retweet Zindabad

If you scroll through the liquor baron’s Twitter feed, you’ll see that those little green symbols overwhelm the screen. Yes, Mallya loves to retweet. Here are a few screenshots as proof.

Debt? Psh, look at these other people talk about people who talk about me.

Wishes Galore

It’s all good up in Mallya’s hood. He’s busy wishing everyone on different occassions, or at least retweeting people who’re doing the wishing.

On Being a Defaulter

Yes, he owes the private sector banks a whopping Rs 9,000 crore and yes social media has become the easiest place to taunt the father of Kingfisher Vijay and his son Sid, but since this is the only point of communication with Mr Mallya so far – you don’t mess with the Twitter master – here’s how he’ll shut you down.

All’s Well in Mallya’s Twitter Land...Or So It Seems

Vijay Mallya uses Twitter as a weapon to protect and promote himself. We don’t know how this story will end but what we do know is that Mallya will continue resolutely to tweet and retweet to show us that he still is or wants to remain, the indefatigable King of Good Times.
