Doctors in a Missouri hospital have worked a miracle. They have delivered a baby whose mother was killed in a crash on her way to the hospital to give birth.
The baby’s mother Sarah Iler and her partner, Matt Rider were on their way to a hospital when their SUV was struck by a tractor-trailer.
The accident ejected Iler and Rider from the car. Upon arriving at the scene, police officers administered CPR on Iler in an attempt to save her, but she was declared dead on arrival at Cape Girardeau hospital.
Iler’s baby, Maddyson, was delivered via an emergency cesarian. The newborn was full term when she was born. She was taken off the ventilator last Friday. Doctors aren’t entirely sure if Maddyson suffered brain damage after her mother’s death.
The baby’s father suffered multiple injuries, but is recovering. Iler’s family set up a gofundme.com account to raise $9,000 for funeral expenses.
