A 23-year-old Pakistani student was killed by a vigilante group in Pakistan for allegedly publishing blasphemous content online.

The student, Mashal Khan, was a journalism student in Abdul Wali Khan University. Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai condemned the heinous act and asked for the people of her country to revisit Islam, especially its message of peace.

She evoked The Prophet’s teachings to spread the message of peace. She added that Pakistanis often complain of Islamophobia in western countries, but such acts malign the country and the religion’s name further.

Along with Mashal Khan, another student Abdullah was attacked by the mob. Abdullah was badly injured.

According to Dawn News, no case had been filed against the two students prior to the incident and police had not been investigating the two on blasphemy charges.
